In one of the most competitive 8-goal tournaments of the season, Amaro (Scott Sorbaro, 0, Michael Armour, 0, Nick Manifold, 2, Kris Kampsen, 6) defeated TuffRider (Benjamin Obregon, 0, Timmy Sharma, 0, Agustin Obregon, 5, Nico Eurnekian, 3), 13-11.

Sorbaro was selected Most Valuable Player. Pomelo, played by Agustin Obregon, was Grand Champions Best Playing Pony
Trailing 6-3 at the half, Amaro rallied in the second half, outscoring Tuff Rider, 10-5 in the second half.
In a wide open, fast-paced opening first half, TuffRider controlled the momentum by working well as a team. TuffRider jumped out to a 3-1 lead behind two goals by Eurnekian and one by 14-yer-old Benjamin Obregon.
Amaro managed to score only three goals in the first half. Amaro scored one goal in each chukker. Kampsen converted two penalties and one goal from the field.
In a complete turnaround in the second half, Amaro outscored TuffRider, 5-1, in the fourth chukker, taking advantage of unforced errors and penalties by TuffRider. Amaro took the lead, 8-7, for the first time on Kampsen's 30-yard penalty conversion with 50 seconds left. Amaro never trailed in the last two chukkers.
Amaro controlled the remainder of the offensive game. Kampsen and Sorbaro worked well together. Kampsen hit Sorbaro with some big passes for goals. Kampsen also was perfect on the penalty line, converting five penalties from 30 and 40 yards out.
TuffRider could not recapture its offensive strength it had in the opening half mainly because of Amaro's stifling, ball-hawking defense. TuffRider came within one goal three times.
Kampsen scored a game-high 10 goals to lead Amaro. Sorbaro added three goals, all during the second half rally. Agustin Obregon led TuffRider with six goals, Eurnekian had four goals and Benjamin Obregon added one goal.
Amaro finished runners-up last year, losing to Pony Express (Lilli Hagemeier, -1, Finn Secunda, 1, Mackie Weisz, 6, Justin Daniels, 2), playing together for the first time in the tournament, 13-9.
The Limited Edition 8-Goal tournament featured six teams. In addition to Amaro and TuffRider, there was Quite on Z (Alecia Seidler, -1, Artemio Figueras, 2, Joao Pedro Souza, 2, Hilario Figueras, 5), winners of the first two 8-goal titles; Newport (Gene Goldstein, 0, Inaki Wulff, -1, Milo Dorignac, 4, Michel Dorignac, 5); Victory Polo (Kevin Schmeits, 0, Cecilia Cochran, 0, Jason Wates, 4, Segundo Caimi, 4), and Tanakhanda (Dr. Tanwerr Khan, 0, Piers Bossom, 2, Luis Escobar, 4, Santiago Moyano, 2)
Because of impending bad weather, the prize presentations were conducted in the players' tent.
